Teach English in JianjiAng KAifAqu - Maoming Shi
This was an introductory unit on teaching business English and the upcoming units of this certificate course. This unit went over what business english is and what teaching business English entails. At the beginning, this unit goes over the aims and objectives for the course overall. This course is intended for already practicing or aspiring English language teachers (TEFL) who wish to teach business English, and the aim is as follows: \"to give participants the opportunity to study ideas and methodologies relating to the teaching of Business English in an EFL setting.\" Some of the objectives of this course include: the ability to discuss (using business terminology) the role of a business English teacher, to have a general understanding of the role of a Business English teacher, to create a teaching syllabus, to be aware of how to find/create material relevant to teaching (class/business/organization), to be able to apply and create assessment procedures, and to be aware of opportunities for further teaching development. This introductory course also went over basic terminology (acronyms) related to teaching English. A list of these are provided on page 8. Additionally, this course explained how a teacher of Business English does not need any experience or knowledge in business in order to be an effective teacher (although some general knowledge will prove beneficial). The area of teaching Business English is also currently in growth and demand so job prospectives are relatively good for graduates. Furthermore, this course went over ESP, which means teaching English for special purposes, and some examples were given. It was again made clear that to teach for a special purpose you do not need to be specialized in that area (although it would help in your teaching). Lastly this unit went over teaching prospects for Business English: to private clients/\"one-on-one\
