Teach English in Hexi Jiedaoban - Maoming Shi
Whether you are teaching beginner, adult, or individual students you will have to find out what their needs are, why they want to learn English. When teaching beginners you should be aware of your students needs, have clear and realistic aims, don`t try too much too quickly. Take care with your board work, control your language, give clear simple instructions, use choral repetition, use pair and group work, remember to revise constantly. Teaching an individual student is different from teaching a whole class. The advantages of teaching one on one; no mixed levels, the student will be highly motivated, the needs of the student can be clearly defined. There are some disadvantages as well; some activities will be impossible to do. One on one lessons are more formal and the teacher will often be the partner of the student, helping/prompting/working with him/her. When teaching Business English to a company/individual you will need to adapt a different approach from the one you would use if you were teaching a general English class. Keeping in mind when teaching a company there will be a difference in age and often the older generation has had little or no previous language learning experience. One of the problems teaching business people is that they are often tired, especially teaching after hours, therefore it would be unreasonable to cover the same amount of material as you would normally do. Make the material less challenging, or cut down on input. Attendance may be sporadic sometimes, clients could be pulled out of a lesson at any time. Before beginning the course, you will need to find out what the students want or need. You need to have a general understanding of the clients job, this will help you to understand the areas of English that the students require. After testing your clients to get an idea of their level, your next step should be to give them a \"needs analysis\
