Teach English in GuAnqiao Zhen - Maoming Shi
This unit is focused on the theories,methods and techniques use for effective teaching of English language for students around the world. There are some learners whose first language is English and on the other hand, there are many whose native language is not English . Learners of English language who have the opportunity to live in an English speaking environment while studying have a huge advantage of mastering the language more easily.This is due to the fact that, they are surrounded by the language continuously and are able to put acquired knowledge into practice in everyday,realistic situations, and their interactions with one another,family and friends are all in English. Thus,many learners of English language do not have the opportunity to live in an English speaking environment while studying and thus, find it difficult to really master the language as their first language is not English . This is because their contact with the language may be just daily, twice weekly or weekly English classes at school or at a private language institution. As a result, these student do not get the same exposure to the language and the opportunity to put it into practice as those whose first language is English. But to overcome this difficulty, a good teacher will have to follow some rules. There is the Boomerang lesson plan which is Engage-Activate-Study-Activate,Patchwork lesson plan etc . Some rules require the teacher to elicit the students by introducing interesting topics,bring up debate topics for there to be discussion in the classroom. Other rules require the teacher to ask question that will excite the students to talk. The best of these rules is the Engage Study Activate (E S A) method which is a combination of many other methods and techniques of learning.Now, i am of the understanding that effective use of the ESA method by a good teacher will produce best and successful results.
