This unit has talked about teaching new language and about its vocabulary grammar and functions. When students are introduced to new language it is essential to explain them the grammar, because some lessons that we teach my include new grammar, new vocabulary, new functions. We will probably want to apply ESA methods here. When it comes to teaching vocabulary we should keep in mind some of the factors when choosing the vocabulary we want to teach. There may be some difficulties for students such as similarity of the new vocabulary to students' own language or spelling and pronunciation of the word, etc. We should also consider what vocabulary we want to teach regarding the level of the students. Students always need to know the meaning of a new vocabulary, also when it is appropriate to use it, what the grammar is, how they should pronounce it, etc. There are of course techniques for vocabulary we are teaching that contain engage, study and activate phase. In each part we should use corresponding activities and methods to explain students the meaning. When it comes to introducing grammatical structures, it is quite important to use good presentation and practice of the language structures. We should make sure to use corresponding activities such as questions and answers/ using pictures/ discussions in engage phase. In study phase students should get to know the grammar they are being taught through activities such as gap fills/sentence building and so on. In activate phase it is suitable and desirable to play communication games and have various debates based on the topic etc. When we teach language functions, we should include as much of the topic as possible. Language functions include a row such as refusing, inviting, suggesting, etc. It's important to include formal usage of the vocabulary, informal etc. It's possible to use ESA boomerang type of lesson here.
