The structure of past tense is very similar to present once you know the later one. If students comprehended well the present it is easier to construct sentences in past tense. It is important to be aware of the common mistakes students make in order to help them and prepare exercises and techniques that can contribute to the proper use of this tense.In my teaching setting I doubt that I will ever get to this topic with my students. I do feel that it is a good review for me to remind me of the future tenses and to be able to spot the mistakes that the students make. It is good information to have \"in my pocket\" and to keep the learning ideas in mind if/when I do cover this topic in the future.
