I've always wanted to learn the phonetic alphabet, and this unit gave an excellent foundation to using it. I think that learning where each sound is created and whether it is voiced or unvoiced could really improve the ability to teach pronunciation. I thought that it was interesting that most statements have a rise and fall intonation.This lesson provided guidance to evaluating students through testing. A variety of tests are used throughout English courses including placement (to determine the level the student is before entering), diagnostic (to determine the students place at that level), and progress (to determine if the student is retaining the course material).
