In this lesson, I learned about the two productive skills involved in learning a language. They are speaking and writing skills. I also learned about many different game options in this lesson that can be adapted for English language learning within the classroom. It is more common for teachers to focus on speaking skill when they are in the classroom over writing skills, which is still important. I learned the difference between accuracy and fluency activities as well. Accuracy activities are typically part of the study phase and are usually controlled to make sure the proper percentage of accuracy is being achieved. Fluency activities are more concentrated on allowing students to be creative and develop the ability to communicate. This is less focused on accuracy. Both are of equal importance. To encourage student participation, the teacher can use methods such as group-work, pair-work, and speaking activities. For writing lessons, handwriting, spelling, and punctuation are all very important. Games also keep student interested and make learning fun in the process. Some games are universal throughout the world and can be adapted to language learning purposes in the classroom.
