Modal auxiliary verbs are used before the verb to add meaning to the main verb. A clause is a group of words containing a subject and a verb. There are 3 categories of clauses. Independent clauses, dependent clauses and relative clause. Phrasal verbs or multi-word verbs consist of a verb plus one or two particles. They operate as one item. There are 3 types of phrasal verbs: Type 1- Intransitive. Type 2- Transitive separable and Type 3- Transitive inseparable.
