Firstly, I learned the importance of following an ESA lesson in the classroom. This means that you allow for the students to engage, study, and activate in every lesson. However, I also learned that there are many different variations of lessons, so following the exact ESA straight arrow lesson is not necessary as long as you begin with engage and end with activate. I learned that correction is something that must be used minimally and only when an error is being made consistently by one student or the whole class. You must first let the student try to correct the error him or herself, or see if someone else in the class is able to do this. Then, the teacher can step in and provide an example for the correct way that a student should say a word or phrase for example. I enjoyed learning about the different activities you can do in each stage of an ESA lesson, and how there are so many possibilities so that students will not get bored, or so that you will not be predictable. And I enjoyed learning about the different methodologies that teaching has, and have decided that the use of many different ones is important so that the students remain engaged and excited about learning English.
