Teach English in Longtou Zhen - Liuzhou Shi
In the conditional form, a sentence has two clauses, one that starts with the word \"if\" and provides a condition that if satisfied, will result in the second clause. Typically, the conditional form is used five ways - in Zero conditional form (if you read this book, you will understand basic physics), the First conditional (If you go for a walk, you will/might feel better), the Second conditional (if I had a watch, I could/would/might be on time), the Third conditional (If someone had warned me, I would not have fallen), and the Mixed conditional (If I had worked as hard hard as you, I would be angry right now). The subtle differences in these five main forms plus the difficulty of mixed tenses can get confusing to students, but exercises that focus on building conditional sentences in pieces are a good way to study. Direct speech, which we use when talking to each other, follows different grammar patterns than indirect speech, which we use when reporting what what was originally said. When reporting direct speech from the past, present tense verbs become past tense verbs, the word \"will\" referring to the future, becomes past tense \"would,\" and past tense verbs remains past tense.
