From this unit I have learnt many things. First of all, the variety of roles played by the teacher in class : because I only have experience as a student, I never truly thought about all the types of requisites you must have, in order to become a good communicator. This makes me think about my abilities and what I could improve, to be able to transmit naturally and with ease to a whole class. Since I?m still studying, at age 27, I can also understand the growth of a student throughout the years, having experienced all the phases described in this unit. Only now can I call myself a good student, especially because I?ve overcome that self-consciousness that is a problem for many learners. In my opinion, the most important thing that this unit wants to make the reader understand, is that a good teacher must remember how it was to be a student. That this job is not only about teaching a language. It?s about relating to other human beings and setting an example. Because of this, it?s fundamental to be fully aware of the differences among students : age, background, experience etc. A teacher who will not take these points into consideration to will not be able to succeed.
