This unit covered materials used in classrooms. First this unit explained Authentic and Non-Authentic Materials. Authentic Materials are materials that were not created for a classroom setting, in contrast, Non-Authentic Materials are materials typically created by other teachers and education companies for classroom settings. Second, this unit covered Designing Non-Authentic Materials. Some considerations for designing classroom materials are, what type of language will be used, how the language will be used, how will you demonstrate the language, and what level of language will be used. Third, this unit demonstrated proper Lesson Planning. Lesson Plans are detailed guides for a lesson. Finally, this unit explained various resources for lessons. Two main types of resources are Book Resources and Internet Resources. I have learned that although lesson plans need to be detailed they do not always need to be followed to the letter. A students understanding is based on the actual lesson not the lesson plan. I have also learned that it is important to pick your resources wisely. It is necessary to make sure that the resource you choose is not easily accessible to the students you are teaching.
