Teach English in Jinxiu Jiedao - Liuzhou Shi
This unit covered course development. First, this unit covered level testing and needs analysis formation. Level testing is done to group students according to their language abilities. Needs assessments are done to ensure that students get to give some input on the subject of what they expect out of the course. Second, this unit covered the limitations that a teacher will face in regard to the class syllabus. Two of the syllabus limitations are the employer, and the time constraints. Third, this unit covered the different types of exams that a teacher will give students. Two different types of exams are the Diagnostic Test, which is used to test students language abilities before the course begins, and the Progress Test, which is used to test students absorption of specific material taught in class. In conclusion, I have learned that although it is important to let the students be involved in the course syllabus contents it is not always feasible. Sometimes an employer will already have the class planned out down to the individual lessons. I have also learned that if your teaching style is too different from the other teachers you may have to defend yourself to the school and to parents.
