The process of managing classes well can be broken up into multiple parts, which ITTT structures as ?eye contact, gesture, and voice,? ?grouping students,? ?classroom arrangement,? ?board writing,? ?individual attention,? ?instruction giving,? ?Teacher vs. Student talk time,? and ?establishing rapport while maintaining discipline.? The key to this lesson is that to correctly and successfully maintain a healthy classroom and relationship with students, consideration must be given to each of these categories of information. Furthermore, such considerations must be tailored to the audience at hand; for me, that means that when I travel abroad to teach English in a foreign setting, my actions in the classroom must be specifically oriented to the cultural context in which I will be entering. In particular, what stood out to me was how to give instructions when you cannot always be sure that your students will fully understand what you are saying. Strategies relating to simplicity of language, consistency, visual cues, and methods for checking understanding allow me to better approach future lesson instruction issues.
