Unit 7 talks about the four key points that students must be able to do whenever they are exposed to new vocabulary, grammar, and language functions. The key points include the exposure of the students to the material, being able to understand the meaning, understanding the construction, and being able to practice and produce the learned material. Grammar is usually seen as the most important aspect of new language, while vocabulary and language functions are seen as semi-important. One aspect is not better than the other, but the teachers' role is to find a method that is able to balance out the form in how he or she teaches vocabulary, grammar and language functions. Vocabulary lessons focus on the 'straight arrow' approach, grammar lessons focus on the 'patchwork' approach and language functions lesson focus on the 'boomerang' approach. The teacher has the right to improvise or modify his or her teaching approaches, but the important goal for the educator is to always make sure that the students are being exposed to the new material in the language the students are learning, the students are receiving ample opportunities to practice the learned material, and also making sure that the students
