This unit focuses on the cultural issues we should be aware of, seeking and applying for employment. Also, what type of information to include in the CV/Resume, professional development, exams you can take, professional organizations to become members of, and the unit finally provides a list of contacts/websites we can use as valuable resources in future. One of the important things I learned was how we have to be aware of cultural differences and what we may think is ok to do in our home country, may not be considered ok in another. As foreigners, we do not want to offend anybody, so in that regard, we need to be socially aware of our surroundings at all times. Also, I enjoyed the section that laid out all of the questions that we should be asking or might want to ask prior to accepting a job in another country. Many questions, we would not think of normally, such as, restrictions on money you can send home. I found the section that gave an example of a CV/Resume useful because it?s a specific template I can use when applying for teaching jobs. I had previously been using the normal, generic, working resume. Lastly, I liked the lists of organizations, and many resources we can use as teachers.
