there are different types of skills needed to read and listen successfully. predictive skills are when you predict or guess the content of the text or article from the headline or title. scanning for specific information is when we read or listen to find out specific information only. skimming for general idea is when a student doesn't have to focus on every single word but try to just have a general idea or understanding of the text. Reading for detailed information is reading something for a purpose this is when we read carefully or listen carefully so we can achieve that purpose. deductive skills sometimes we need to read or listen between the lines in order to deduce the real meaning of what people are writing or saying. if a teacher can get the students engaged and interested in an activity there is a better chance that the student will be more receptive to the lesson it is also important for the teacher to carefully select which text or dialogue to use in a class because that can make the students more challenged in a good and productive way.
