Unit 12 reminds us about the importance of two productive skills: speaking and writing. Writing is a challenging skill to acquire for foreign students because it is usually not done in conjunction with lessons--which I thought was very interesting. The lessons may cover recognizing words and writing down simple phrases, but actual paragraphs worth of material can be especially challenging (especially with handwriting and the forming of English letters)! Every unit reminds me of how difficult the English language can be to master and it stresses the importance of being a confident and thorough teacher. In this unit, I also learned the necessities of accuracy and fluency activities and how both play an integral role in getting the student \"comfortable\" with speaking and writing in English. Accuracy activities heavily involve the teacher for drilling and prompting while fluency based activities involve free role-play and discussions with the students. I look forward to implementing the \"3 by 3\" rule which I thought seemed very effective and creative!
