Being a native English speaker, the grammar comes naturally. However this unit specified the different parts of speech for me to understand so that I can adequately teach them in the future. When I was i elementary school we did learn parts of speech, such as nouns and adjectives, but not to the extent and detail as this unit which covered a much more precise defining of the parts of speech such as countable nouns and superlative adjectives. This unit was more difficult to me because I felt I already knew the parts of speech but when reading the unit I realize i did not understand it to the extent necessary to teach it; the extent to which the unit explains the parts of speech. This unit taught all of the grammatical parts of a sentence, and how those words interact which each other to form meaning. I learned a lot from this unit which surprised me, I got a refresher for the parts of speech I did know but gained a deeper understanding of those parts and learned new terms for parts of speech that I had previously not been aware of at all, such as Gerund.
