There are many ways to evaluate students, from this reading it can be understood that there is no perfect way. The three main groups of assessment will Tutorials, Evaluation by students and Tests. All three groups have both different strengths and weaknesses but from my understanding, it seems that both tutorials and evaluation by students seem to be less formal and can be used throughout teaching to continuous evaluation. However, tests are needed in the classroom to both monitor and evaluate the progress of the class. Elements like practice tests can be such a key step for students as you can calm nerves and actually adapt the lesson plan to help the students on what they do actually need help on. Similarly, Progress tests allow the teacher to continuously gauge what the student has retained. All the different testing techniques seem to benefit different steps leading up to the student's final examination be it TOFEL IELTS to name a few. Evaluation is key to understanding the student's growth without it the teacher may not fulfill the student's potential.
