This was a comprehensive unit about the importance and possible difficulties of teaching the productive skills of speaking and writing. This unit maintained the thought process of keeping lessons student centered. It is the teacher's responsibility to generate the need and desire in the students. By doing this, the teacher not only creates a pleasant and interactive atmosphere, but also instills confidence in the students to want to communicate in English using the written and spoken form. The difficulties in speaking can be remedied by implementation of the Engage, Study, Activate method and only correcting mistakes when necessary as the phases progress. The difficulties in the writing can be remedied through practice and reliance on the receptive skill of reading. Due to the many homophones in English, along with all the other intricacies when it comes to writing, students simply need to practice and be exposed to as much as possible. This goes back to the teacher being able to inspire the need and desire to learn, retain, and apply what is taught.
