This unit talks about levels (from starters to upper-intermediate), needs analysis, testing (placement, progress, aptitude and other kinds of tests), as well as creating the course syllabus. There are various limits to keep in mind when creating one (school decisions, time, resources etc.), and teachers must choose among different kinds of syllabus accordingly to the situation (grammar, situation, communication based). I definitely prefer to have a ready made syllabus instead of spending endless hours creating one. I'll keep in mind the suggestion to spend the first lesson not only for introduction games but also for setting classroom rules and talking them through with the students.
