In Unit 16: Conditionals and Reported Speech, grammar related to the conditional was discussed. The zero, first, second, third and mixed conditionals are all laid out, with their forms and usages, as well as how to more easily teach these forms to students and the common mistakes made with each of these conditionals. Then, the differences between reported speech and direct speech are mentioned. Verb tenses, pronouns, and time expressions when switching from reported and direct speech are highlighted. Then, some teaching ideas for reported and direct speech are discussed. Overall, I learned a lot about grammar in this unit, and feel confident in teaching students the conditional forms.
