This unit covered a plethora of topics to finish off our basic knowledge of English grammar. It gave a definitive name to many grammar rules that I have used extensively without knowing these rules had a formal definition. I learned about the types of modal auxiliary verbs and how they can be used to modify the meaning or formality of a sentence. I also learned about the types of phrasal verbs, which are constructed of multiple words, and how they interact with an object in a sentence. Finally we were taught about the difference between defining and non-defining relative clauses, as well as the conversion of verbs and sentence structure in order to use a passive voice in our sentences.
