The first section about the different roles of a teacher was the most informative. I began this course with an understanding that teachers need to be multi-faceted; however, this section pushed me to reflect on the different situations and which role would be most effective. For instance, I tend to adopt the role of Organizer and Assessor when I am teaching a unit. I also recognize some units require me to first act as a manager and deliver direct instruction in order for the material to be accessible. Lastly, the section on language level and what makes a good learner pushed me to reflect on my future students, and how I will need to structure lessons that not only take into account their level of fluency, but also their life experience, nervousness and different motivations for learning English. As a high school teacher, my students will most likely have an intermediate language level, but they may also be concerned about \"saving face\" and frustrated with their slower acquisition of the nuances of English. I will have to devise lessons that create a safe learning environment for mistakes and pushes students to take ownership of their language learning process in order to become advanced speakers.
