Lesson plan has its pluses and minuses. Lesson plan, sometimes, can stop teachers from being flexible. However, an effective lesson plan helps to design appropriate learning activities and develop strategies to obtain feedback on student learning. Having a lesson plan shows our students that we, as their teachers, has devoted time and effort to reflect about their educational needs. Undeniably, a lot of unexpected things occur during class. And things can really go way beyond unpredictable and uncontrollable, especially when it comes to cases such as dealing with the very young learners, who are often aged 7 years and less. We must be acutely aware of their swinging mood that always bring a series of twists and turns in our lesson. Thus, we need a back up plan, perhaps a fun-linking games or activities in order to grab their attention back so that we are still able to achieve intended learning outcomes. Far from compromising spontaneity, lesson planning outlines a structure and context for both teacher and students, as well as a framework reflection and evaluation. When we have everything well-planned to the finest details, we can be sure that the outcome can at least be something we have expected.
