This unit was definitely the most challenging one with much material to be learned, yet the most interesting and intriguing one. I agree with the point in this lesson that in real-life teaching environment, Jeremy Harmer's ESA methodology would be one of the most effective ones because of its several types of lessons such as the 'Straight Arrow', 'Boomerang', and 'Patchwork' ESA lessons. All three elements of the ESA lesson; engage, study and activate should be discretely treated with high importance. Furthermore, most importantly I had learned the importance of the elicitation component of ESA since as they say, the beginning is the half of all and engaging the students in the beginning should be extremely important to set the general class atmosphere. Lastly, it was fun to learn the activities of all three stages of ESA such as fizz-buzz(engage phase), tongue-twisters(study phase), and role-play(activate phase) just to name a few. It reminded of the time I myself was in the English as second language program and also made me realize how much effort the teachers must have put in each lesson. I really hope that when I teach in the future all students would be nice and cooperative as I was. Just joking. :)
