This unit gave basic but concrete information on how to be a good teacher and what makes a good learner. Teachers are upheld to several different responsibilities and roles, and must maintain a certain level of professionalism whilst also establishing strong and trusting relationships with all students. Additionally, teachers must encourage learning and self-motivation by being patient, caring, lively, and positive. When learning another language, students will bring for a variety of challenges. Some learners, such as adult learners, will me more motivated to learn, while children may not be. It is therefore important that a language teacher is adaptable and responsive to the learning and behavioural needs of his/her students. Each level of language learning will also bring about different challenges. A good teacher must be able to monitor all progress and correct errors in an encouraging, non-offensive way. Tasks should be made applicable to the students' everyday lives or culturally-friendly, and should be engaging. However, at some points in teaching, the teacher may have to take on more of a manager role. It is vital that a teacher teachers with a variety in style. Good learners will come from good teachers.
