There are many different forms of using present tense. It can be difficult to distinguish between these forms when teaching. Such examples of different forms of present tense include: present simple, present continuous, present perfect and present perfect continuous. Each forms are used based on the context of the sentence to explain if something has been happening and is still going on, is happening and will continue to happen or can relate the past to the present. These different forms of present tense can also be divided into subcategories of affirmative, negative or question by using different forms of verbs or past participles for example.
