This unit gives a brief look at teaching vocabulary, grammar, and functions. For each one, Unit five describes what they are, what kind of ESA lesson they are usually taught in, and what different techniques there are for presenting and/or practicing at each stage of the ESA lesson. From this unit, I learned useful tips about what kind of ESA lessons, whether 'boomerang,' 'patchwork,' or straight arrow,' work best when teaching grammar, vocabulary, or functions. In addition, this unit gives specific examples of a lesson plan for each area, making it easier to envision what a lesson might look like for teaching grammar or vocabulary or functions.
