This unit was all about the different past tenses. Having grappled my way through the present tense module, I at least found this one to be a little easier! The use of irregular verbs for the past simple is problematic for students, and there is no 'hard and fast' rule - these must simply be learned. The continuous forms of the past tense are generally easier to identify because of -ing, though one must be careful not to confuse continuous with perfect continuous. I found it very useful to go through the suggested uses for each form of these past tenses, and hopefully will able to translate this for students I may get to teach in the future.
