Teach English in XiAnqiao Jiedao - Jieyang Shi
This unit gives overview on the different teaching strategies that we, educators can apply in our teaching endeavor. Such strategies mentioned are the use of songs, chants, music, games, arts and crafts, seasonal activities and other materials that can add spice as we teach our students. According to this unit, different types of teaching strategies can be applied as we teach our students however, we must also take into consideration their groups like if they are under starter, beginner, pre-intermediate, intermediate, or advance. The methods or teaching styles that we must apply should be parallel to their level. Thus, we should also look into their age if they are young learners, teenagers, or adults since different age levels have different interest. For example, young learners do like to sing a lot and follow variety of movements as well. But, teenagers and adults don't like singing. They already wanted to have their own thing being done. That's why the teacher usually stand as a facilitator in conducting activities for teenagers and adults while more supervision are needed when providing activities for young learners. Aside from that, since according to the theory under Howard Garner about multiple intelligence; which specifically stressed out that learners have their own distinct way of learning therefore, our role as educators is to provide different kinds of strategies as we teach them in order to address the different kinds of intelligence among our students. Moreover, as educators choosing the right materials to use is also a need and mostly, planning and organizing the flow of our lesson by writing a lesson plan suited to our student's needs should be done for us to have guide on what are we going to do inside our classroom. Since I believe that planning and knowing our students well are the key for us to have an effective lesson flow which will provide a more effective and meaningful learning towards our learners.
