The Unit 10 on CD and Video, was very interesting and instructive as it provided two contrasting visual/real life examples of good and bad teaching behaviour, the Do and Don?ts in teaching, as well as good and bad ways to run an English lesson. We often do not realise if we teach well or not or whether a lesson is being understood by the students or not, unless we, ourslevesm get the chance to have a third party?s point of view on our teaching methods. Just like in these two videos, the viewer of the video gets to make his/her own point of view on the effectiveness of the teaching method being employed. The first video clearly showed the ?Dont?s ? in teaching and how ?not? to run a lesson, we could clearly depict the lack of interest from the teacher towards his students, the lack of understanding from the students, and therefore their lack of participation in the lesson, which led to the teacher?s frustration later on. Ourselves as the public could also hardly understand what the teacher was saying in the first video, as he spoke too fast and unclearly and we were also confused about what he wanted from the students and what was asked to do in the study phase. The teacher in first video one also seemed not completely conscious about the students' well-being in the classroom or whether they understood the lesson at all. On the contrary, the second video, showed good visual examples of the ?Do?s ? when it comes to teaching. The teacher was more conscious about the students understanding of the lesson- He was motivated, smiling and tried to engage each and every student to participate in the lesson from the very beginning and also kept on checking whether they understood what was being taught and asked from them. We can clearly depict in the second video that the students seem happier, less shy and therefore a lot more motivated in participating in the lesson than in the first video.
