Teach English in Dachi Nongchang - Jieyang Shi
Lesson planning is an important part of the teaching process. Experienced teachers are more flexible and don't need to follow lesson plans every time, they could make notes instead of it. There are a few reasons why we plan the lesson: to create logical sequence for the lesson, to form a record of what has been taught, also planning helps to keep on target and gives you someting to refer to during the lesson. There is no special way to write a plan, it fully depends on teachers. Some of them prefer to write formal plans, some jot notes, some log details into class notebooks. If you want to change your plan during the lesson you should make a note of those changes. First of all your lesson plan should be simple, try to keep the same structure for all plans. Don't script the lesson, it should be maximum flexible. Always write anticipated time for each activity in the margin. Also check for balance of skills to make sure activities fit together. Lesson plan includes teacher's and observe's names, date and time, number of students, class level, language point (the theme around which the lesson is based), teaching aids (pictures, board etc.), personal aims, learner objectives, anticipated problems (for the eacher and the students), procedure (activities), phase (engage, study, activate), timing and interaction (teacher-student, student-student or students work alone). It's equally important for teacher to be organized. Before the lesson to make sure you have lesson plan with all the necessary aids and materials, board is clean, the seating are arranged as desired, don't forget to check the equipment, and after that be ready to chat to the students as they come into class. For improving our skills as teachers and for making our classes as interesting as possible, teachers need to evaluate his or her own lessons and make notes of what went well and where the lesson culd be improved. When theteachers want to plan a sequance of lessons they need to follow a few issues: flexibility, goals, revision, variety and balance.
