THERE ARE DIFFERENT TESTS: 1) PLACEMENT TESTS ARE USEFUL TO CHECK THE ENGLISH LEVEL OF A STUDENT IN ORDER TO LET THE TEACHER FORM GROUPS OF STUDENTS OF THE SAME LEVEL. THESE KIND OF TEST CONSISTS IN WRITTEN AND ORAL TEST VERY EASY AT THE START BUT PROGRESSIVELY MORE DIFFICULT UNTIL THE STUDENTS IS MORE ABLE TO ANSWER. VERY USEFUL ARE THE OPEN QUESTIONS IN ORDER TO ASSES THE FLUENCY SKILL OF THE STUDENTS. 2) THE PURPOSE OF DIAGNOSTIC TEST IS TO CHECK THE MORE DIFFICULT AREAS FOR THE STUDENTS IN ORDER TO BETTER ARRANGE MATERIALS AND TEST FOR FUTURE LESSONS. 3) THE STUDENTS HAVE TO BE EVALUATED ALSO BY PROGRESS TESTS THANKS TO WHICH BOTH THE TEACHER AND STUDENTS AWARE ABOUT WHAT LANGUAGE ITEMS NEED MORE WORK. 4) PRACTICE TEST ARE USEFUL TO LET THE STUDENTS KNOW HOW CLOSE THEIR ENGLISH SKILLS ARE TO THE REQUIREMENTS NEEDED FOR THE FUTURE EXTERNAL EXAMINATION AND TO TAKE CONFIDENCE WITH THE STRUCTURE OF THE SAME. 5) ACHIEVEMENT TEST IS AN INTERNAL TEST AT THE END OF THE COURSE. 6) EXTERNAL EXAMINATION AND 7) PROFICIENCY TEST ARE NOT COURSE RELATED AND MEASURE PROFICIENCY.
