Teach English in Chonglou Zhen - Jiangmen Shi
A good teacher should have an excellent knowledge of the subject, love teaching, be able to motivate his/her students, correct mistakes without offending the students. There are different roles a teacher could take over, which depends on various factors. The roles are: model- when he/she is a model for the student as regards the grammar and languae knowledge in general (pronounciation for instance). Manager- the teacher takes over the lesson completely, prompter- in situations in which students have difficulties to go on a teacher decides to ask a further question or support them in moving on on their own, tutor- a teacher is a sort of a personal teacher, observer- a teacher is observing the lesson where students have the main role etc. a good learner should be willing to learn, ask questions, accept error corrections, be creative with the language. There are certain differences between adult and young learners. Adults are normally more motivated than children as they chose the course by themselves, on the other hand they are more nervous and anxious but follow the lessons without making confusion during the lesson (which can happer with children for various reasons). Children learn more spontaneously, while adults have already a language basis which is advantageous on one hand but can lead to errors on the other hand. Lanuage knowledge has different levels: Beginners- from zero to basic knowledge, Elementary- ability to compose simple sentences and deal with basic topics; low-intermediate - able to understand various topics but lacking in fluency and mistakes are frequent on this level; intermediate - good understanding , limited vocabulary and limited fluency; upper-intermediate - students are able to communicate well but still lacking in accuracy; advanced - good knowledge of all language categories and are ready to enter deeply in the lanuage material. The reasons for students' desire tolearn a new lanuage can be numerous: passion for languages, work, desire to go and live abroad, to improve in general or in school, travel and ability to communicate with other people in general.
