This unit explains how to form each of the 4 present tenses of the English language, and explains when each of these tenses is used. It also gives guidance on teaching ideas for each of the tenses. Various rules are explained within the unit - e.g. standard rule for 3rd person singular of the present simple tense, standard rules for past participles - and also makes reference to verbs which are irregular in past simple and past participle forms, a list of which it is easy to find online. It also contains other useful rules - e.g. when to use 'for' and 'since', and the fact that state verbs are not used in the present perfect continuous tense.
