Prior to completing this unit I understood that there were different tenses used for the past, the present and the future but I have now learnt that each tense has four aspects. This unit has shown me the four aspects of the present tense being Present Simple, Present Continuous, Present Perfect and Present Perfect Continuous. It is becoming more obvious that knowing a language through being a native speaker and knowing it enough to teach a speaker of another language requires more intricate knowledge of the language itself. Time is a definite determiner of how a verb, both regular and irregular, is used in both the written and spoken form.
