Unit 16 covers the grammar of conditionals and reported speech. Conditionals are sentences that refer to possibilities. The five types of conditionals include zero, first, second, third, and mixed conditionals. In the classroom, teachers can use activities such as matching split sentences, fill-in-the-blank conditional sentences, and chain conditionals. Reported (indirect) speech the format used when talking about the past. Verb tenses, pronouns, and expressions of time all change when recreating direct statements into reported speech. Teachers can use activities such as media interviews to help students learn and practice using conditionals.
