Before completing this unit, I had no idea of the exact complexity and intricacy of English language phonology. I was never taught stress, inflections, or phonetics to this degree because so much of this information is absorbed through childhood. I found the inflection material and the mouth diagrams to be helpful information but I became confused very quickly when I started to read the phonemic charts as these were never a part of my education, so I have learned to appreciate a little the struggle students must feel when trying to learn such a phonetically complicated language such as English. I will need to practice this more in the future.
