This was definitely the most difficult unit for me so far. Even though in my country a big attention to teaching phonetic alphabet is being paid, it is remaining one of the weakest points of the vast majority of teachers, including me myself. Even though it seems like an easy way to teach students to pronounce words correctly it is not always true. Students can read transcripts but when it comes to reading actual words in texts where the phonetic alphabet is not given they still struggle to read it correctly. I dont have a professional opinion on this account as I lack the teaching experience especially in such complicated field as phonetics.
