In this lesson, I learned about teaching new vocabulary, grammar, and functions. I learned that the difficulty of new vocabulary words will depend on the word?s similarity to students? own language, its similarity to already known English words, its spelling and pronunciation, and its appropriateness. Similarly, when choosing what vocabulary items to teach, it is important to factor in the appropriateness to the student and the task, the frequency and coverage of the word, and its teachability. The lesson goes on to explain more about teaching vocabulary, grammar structures, and functions and how to do an ESA lesson of those topics.
