Unit 13 discusses pronunciation and phonology. Phonology is the study of physical properties of sounds. They have their own phonetic symbols, and these correspond to the place of articulation. There's a chart of the human mouth and how individual sounds are formed. Ways to help teach these sounds include peer dictation, visuals, and using your own mouth. Pronunciation is important and should be integrated into the class itself.The rise/fall intonation is the most common form but it varies. There's also different meanings ascribed to different forms of stress. These can be taught through gestures, choral work, the board, and using stress marks.
