This unit is centered on coursebooks and lesson materials. It divides the material into two groups which are authentic materials and created materials, and gives the reasons why we use authentic materials which are:they are real and therefore more interesting and motivating, students gain confidence when they understand them, they can be geared to the interest of a particular group of students. It also gives examples of created materials such as:crosswords, role-play cards,picture stories, flashcards etc. This unit also looks at coursebooks, the merits and demerits of using them, not leaving out the four different points for using coursebooks.
