The unit reflects two important parts of teaching - pronunciation and phonology. Those items are basic for each language and it's nessecary for students to know the difference between seemed to be similar sounds to elicit the meaning of the word. Teaching phonolodgy and pronuncition helps students to improve productive and receptive skills. I've learnt the difference between English articulation and Russian (which is my native language) system of sounds. That was helpful to knew, because with this experience I can explain something to the students through the way I used a few years ago. Knowing intonation is very important, too. Because with the stress we put on the word, we change the general idea of the sentence. The presence of games ideas and activities for lesson in this book takes a broader look at what should be the lesson about pronunciation and phonetics look like. The phonetic poem written by Shaw reflects a lot of difficult cases of stress and intonation. That was a good example. Because it helps to concetrate ona particular words and the way we pronounce it. However, we also need to let the students know, that pronunciation changes depends on a speaker (his country and region, that affect on speech).
