This unit provides an overview on the different aspects of classroom management. In particular, the key aspects touched on includes how the teacher uses his eye contact, gesture and voice to regulate and enhance the effectiveness of the lesson; classroom seating arrangement; groupings and also aspects such as writing on the board, giving students attention, providing instructions and even discipline. It has provided insights to things that a teacher should note in managing a class. Beyond the lesson content, without these classroom management skills, the lesson may not be able to be carried out effectively and students may missed out on the essence of what was intended to be taught to them. For example, knowing a student's name and the sequence to calling their name in response to questions can help in effectively keeping student's alertness and drawing their attention. There are various aspects to consider when putting students in a group and arranging their seating arrangement to optimise learning experience for them. An effective teacher is not just knowledge focused but he/she should care enough for the learning environment of his/her students in order for them to benefit most from their learning experience.
