This was interesting to watch! I almost had to look away from the first video because it was so awkward. I could feel how uncomfortable the students were through the video. Telling students that something is very easy is almost never a good thing to do. It usually sets them up to feel like they have failed when they do not immediately grasp the concept. The attitude of the teacher during the second lesson was so vastly different and improved that it was almost hard to believe it was the same teacher! Even from the first few minutes he had the students all smiling, which is a great step to creating a welcoming learning environment. I also liked that he paired the students together for doing the study work. Then he gave each student a chance to answer a question and practice their pronunciation. He pronunciation drills were also done well. They listened and repeated as a class three times, and them some individuals were called upon to practice out loud. It was lightning quick and gave everyone a chance to practice their pronunciation. Overall, though, the feeling I had after the second class was one of positivity and fun! I found myself smiling by the end, and I hope I can instill that feeling in my students as well.
