The first lesson started without the teacher formally introducing himself. He did not ask students? names which helps in developing the rapport between student and teachers. He often scowled and looked unhappy during the entire lesson. Students were intimidated by him because he kept telling that the answers were easy without even attempting to explain the lesson point. This made the students confused. The second lesson is more effective than the first lesson. The teacher introduced himself with a smile. He asked the students? names and addressed them with their names throughout the lesson. This helped build good rapport between the student and teacher. The method used by the teacher to explain the lesson point is also different from the first lesson. He first engaged the students in a small talk to actively involve the students in the lesson and then gradually moved to elicit the use of can and can?t in the study phase. He used mime and action to elicit words like run, jump and climb. He used drawings to elicit the names of the animals and later used them in the activate phase. The teacher?s attitude and zeal to teach made the difference in how the students understood and responded to the lesson.
