Unit 12 highlights the teaching of productive skills: Speaking and Writing. Both are vital for students to utilize their creativity but different factors come into play when teaching, encouraging the use of, and evaluating both skills. The differences between accuracy and fluency activities are introduced as well as what to consider when encouraging students to speak or write. Examples of activities and lessons are given for both skills to give the reader more concrete examples on how to utilize these skills in the ESL/EFL classroom. Games are also mentioned at the end of the unit, and due to the incredibly low level of my teenage students this section is the most useful, even though I have already been using the mentioned techniques for a year. Unfortunately, this unit and many of the others seem most effective for adult learners who already have a decent grasp of English and does not seem to provide much assistance for students with low English ability or enthusiasm.
