Many structures in the English language can express future ideas, for example, Future Simple, Future Continuous, Future Perfect, Future Perfect Continuous, Be going + infinitive, Present Simple and Present Continuous. We use Future Simple to express facts, promises, predictions without real evidence, assumptions, spontaneous decisions, and threats. The Future Continuous is used when we want to say that an action will be in progress in a particular time in the future, make guesses about something that might be happening now, inquire politely and refer to future events. When speaking about actions that will be finished in the future we use the Future Perfect. The Future Perfect Continuous shows how long an action continuous up to some specific time in the future. When talking about intentions, predictions based on evidence and plans we use the structure be going + infinitive. The Present Simple expresses future when suggesting a more formal situation or impersonal tone and is also used for timetables and schedules. The last tense used to talk about the future is the Present Continuous; we use it for settlements, decisions, and plans without a fixed date.
